At Ysgol y Dderwen we endeavour to be friendly to the environment. The Eco Council is responsible for deciding what should be done in order to – improve the school grounds, save energy, reduce waste, re-use and recycle. We also try to be good world-wide citizens by learning about the importance of Fair Trade.

We won the Platinum award in March 2014.

Our Eco Code is
To protect our environment.
To keep the school clean and tidy.
To reduce waste by re-using and recycling.
To promote Fair Trade.

Welsh Network of Healthy Schools

There are now 127 schools on the Healthy Schools Scheme in Carmarthenshire. The Project forms part of the World Health Organisation’s initiative ‘European Network of Health Promoting Schools’ of which Wales is now part.
The website contains a wealth of information for Carmarthenshire Schools that are accredited to the Scheme, with a template action plan, examples of good practice and useful links.
